Washington PCT 2015: Day 28

Hiking in the morning
The hike from Janus Lake on day 28 of our hike was a long dry one. We got off to a bit of a slow start but were soon cruising up out of the valley we had camped in.  We got some great views of the snowy peaks to the north. They looked far more jagged and imposing than anything else in Washington.

One more gratuitous shot of the mountain
After a long push through very exposed areas, we were feeling very hot and tired! We eventually chose to stop at Pear lake, as did Max and Alli. I went swimming in the freezing cold waters to cool down. When I got out, the cool dry mountain air would dry me off in minutes. There was just one difficulty, giant flies (over an inch long) loved to land on me and bite when I got wet. I would dive under and they would be waiting for any exposed flesh the moment I surfaced!

Laura looking bad-ass again
After a cool hike through a bunch of giant rock fields (more like boulder fields), we hiked down into a ravine where we could camp near Pass Creek. We had hiked about 15 miles and were pretty tired. Here, we again shared campsites with team Minnesota. Laura really liked chatting with them because they reminded her of her own little brothers. We got to sleep nice and early, ready to push through what turned out to be one of our favorite sections of the trial the next day.

Winding through the trees again

Beautiful day
We will me camping next to that mountain tomorrow!
Heading down to Pass Creek
