Day 10 was a long and uneventful day of walking. We hit some big patches of snow on our way back down the mountain and then spent a few hours ridge walking. We got a few good views and made some miles before lunch.

The only downside of hiking along a ridge is lack of water. in the early afternoon, was stopped for food near a short side trail. There, one could hike about a quarter mile down to a spring at the base of the ridge. Here, we were passed by a couple of the first hikers thru-hiking the trail! They told us some intense stories about their own hike around Thielsen on the snow-covered trail! It confirmed our decision to hike around that section of trail.

After a few more hours of hiking we arrived at Windigo Pass, where we decided to take the Oregon Skyline trail as an alternate route. We were concerned about snow on Diamond peak, so we decided to cut through the lakes below the peak instead.

We ended up at Nip and Tuck Lakes camping amidst clouds of mosquitoes. It was the worst case of camping in mosquitoes I had experienced to date! We quickly set up our tents and hid from the bugs. Dinner was spent in our tents chatting loudly across the camp to neighboring tents. We had hiked 20 miles and would likely arrive at our final destination the next day!
