After climbing Mount St. Helens and Mount Adams, I was happy to share a a great day hiking Silver Star mountain with some friends. Originally, we had planned on climbing St. Helens together but I couldn't get permits for that day. So drove out past Battleground, Wa to the Yacolt area where Silver Star (the tallest peak in Clark County) can be found.
The drive out was rough... way worse than Mount Adams. In fact, I believe that the trailhead we drove to is officially closed because so many people have trouble driving there. Luckily, Patrick had a truck with high clearance!
Once we got on the trail, everything was absolutely beautiful! There were wildflowers blooming everywhere and the clear weather meant stunning views from the top of the mountain!
We took "Ed's trail" on the way up to the peak. It requires a little effort and is less established tham the official Star Mountain trail, which is more of an ATV road.
After the hike, we stopped at a pub in Battleground for food We all ordered the "Sasquatch burger", which has toasted cheese sandwiches instead of regular buns. It was basically an amazing hike with some amazing people!
