Washington PCT 2015: Day 16

Cool morning

Day 16 started cool and foggy. At the high elevation we camped, the air cooled down quite a bit. Combine that with the moisture of the meadow nearby, and you get what Laura and I like to call "civil war" fog. We took our time getting ready, chatting with others about our experiences. Some guy who had hiked in behind us told us they had nearly been attacked by a goat!

When we finally left camp, we got some good views through the many clear-cut and burnt sections of trail. It was hot and dry!

We chatted with a couple fellows from the cabin for most of the day, hiking together. But at the end of the day, they stopped a bit before us. This was for the best because the campsite Laura and I used was a small one with two tents on it already. As we got situated, a through-hiker showed up. He was super-snobby, talking about all of our gear and food choices and what was wrong with them. It would have been insulting if it wasn't so funny! We got a good night of sleep after our 18.75 mile hike!
