Oregon PCT 2016: Day 15

Lower Twin Lake in the morning
Day 15 (4th day going south) was another clear day, though much hotter at the lower altitude. I awoke to a very still morning. After a quiet meal next to the serene lake, I packed up and headed south. It was just a short trip back to the PCT. From there, I continued south.

Breakfast!
Goodbye, pretty lake!
On my way south, there were a few good views of Mount Hood. But it was mostly walking in the trees. I spent many hours without looking at anything particularly exceptional until I got to Little Crater Lake.

I was on that mountain yesterday!
Little Crater Lake was about 1 mile off the PCT. It was a really cool, if small, pond that was really deep and really clear. It reminded me of some of the pools in Yellowstone. In fact, I felt like the water must be superheated even though it was perfectly cool. It was a pretty neat spot.

It's deep!
After spending a while taking in Little Crater Lake, I took off for nearby Timothy Lake. That is a big body of water with quite a few nice resting spots but I booked it to the south end of the lake and used the campground restroom. Then I took a break and ate lunch for a while.

After a nice long break, I got back on the trail. There were many miles of trees with nothing terribly interesting to look at. I finally arrived at Warm Springs river around 7:30. After a nice dinner, I went to sleep. I had hiked about 24 miles and was feeling great! I would arrive at Mount Jefferson in about 24 hours!
Hello, Warm Springs!
