Washington PCT 2015: Day 37

Sunrise below the pass
Day 37 was another favorite day on the trail, especially in the morning as we crossed Cutthroat and Granit passes. We got up, ate, and said goodbye to our neighbors before hiking the last few miles to Cutthroat pass.

There were quite a few miles of amazing views. We stopped below the Snowy lakes for lunch. Here, we made the acquaintance of a very friendly chipmunk. Then we continued on our toward Tower peak and down into the Methow valley.

The hike through the Methow valley was long, hot, and basically uninteresting. At the far end, the trail turned right up into another valley. At this spot we decided to rest because we were both tire, hot, and hungry. Also, we were making pretty good time! Here, we met a crazy stalker deer. We shooed it away multiple times but it kept coming back, hoping to lick up our pee.

Ahhh! Run away!
As the evening wore on, we hiked up to Glacier pass. It got cool pretty fast once we were in the shade. We arrived, chatted with a few neighbors, set up camp, ate, and went to bed. We had hiked 17.5 miles and were nearly to Canada!
