Washington PCT 2015: Day 13

Heading back to the road
Walking to the trail
Here we go again!
Day 13 began nice and slowly. Laura's mom and Jesse took off at a decently early hour. Laura and I took some time to lay about, took second showers, and very slowly came to the conclusion that we should move on.

Lots or trees
A quick lunch break
Stinky swamps

We walked about a quarter mile from the Krackerbarrel to the White Pass trailhead of the PCT. There were people all over the place. We probably passed 50 people in our first hour of hiking. There were also plenty of mosquitoes because of all the small lakes north of white pass. There were not clouds of them, but there were enough to encourage a brisk pace.

There were lots of ponds like these
...lots of them

We sailed through the woods past lake after lake until we arrived 12.5 miles later at a nice campsite by a creek. The bugs seemed better here, maybe because of the flowing water. We set up camp and relaxed a bit. I gave Laura Chex Mix Muddy Buddies as a surprise gift, which is a perfect gift for any hiker who enjoys chocolate. It helped us enjoy this day right to the last moment!

Filtering water at our campsite
Happy Laura!
