Washington PCT 2015: Day 25

I know what you did last summer
We awoke early in the morning to fog and drizzle on the 25th day of our hike. There were quite a few people camping at our site so we packed up quietly. We knew we would arrive at Stevens pass so we had snacks rather than cooking breakfast.

Hiking in the clouds
Is was not really raining most of the time. Rather, clouds were blowing through the trees and fat drops of water were condensing and falling like rain. Eventually, near Trap Lake, we hiked down below the clouds.
Where are we?

Almost out of the clouds

We eventually got to an open area below the clouds and had breakfast where drops of condensation didn't drop on our heads. We shared our eating area with a nearby deer. We were chilly and a little soggy but a warm breakfast really helped!

After a short potty break at Mig Lake (they had pit toilets!), we kept on hiking down the mountain. The clouds were starting to lift and we started to shed our rain gear.

We high-tailed it down the hillside, passing a few other hikers. One guy had a cool rolling backpack he used to carry really heavy loads! The clouds continued to melt away as we passed Lake Josephine and arribed at Lake Susan-Jane. We stopped at Lake Susan-Jane for a short lunch before our final push up to Steven's Pass.

After about 14.5 we miles arrived at the Steven's pass ski resort. We saw mountain bikers everywhere. The resort had added bike courses as a way to make ends during this year of little snowfall. We walked right into the main ski lodge and bought candy and ice cream! A pair of nice women heard us talking about the trail and getting to Skykomish and offered to give us a ride. So we arrived there in the early afternoon. We picked up our box from the Post Office, checked into our hotel, and ate at the diner! We also took showers and relaxed in bed before a good night sleep!

Our friends, Max and Alli from Snoqualmie pass, happened to be staying at the same place as us. While doing laundry, we all went to the other food place in town, the local bar. There, we got food and I totally got hit on by an older lady. She was hilarious and told us all stories of her days as a ships captain! But I wasn't interested.
